New iPad (2018) announced
Source: Engadget |
Apple
held an education-focused event on 27 March. In this event apple
introduced their new 9.7" iPad (2018) with Apple Pencil support. The iPad
(2018) is mainly focused on students by making it affordable for schools.
However, it is available for average consumers as well. In this event the New
iPad (2018) was the only device announced and they did not even leave a hint on
any other products to be released. Apple's key focus was to power the
classrooms with their iPads and during this event they released new software
which will benefit the classroom.
What are the specs?
Display: the iPad (2018) will have 9.7'' LED
backlit display. The resolution will be 2048 x 1536 pixels and a pixel density
of 264 ppi. It will also support the Apple Pencil.
Chip: the iPad will have the A10 fusion
chip as we believe that apple is trying to keep the cost low to make the iPad
(2018) affordable. However, we can expect more performance from this chip
compared to the previous generation iPad.
Dimensions: Height 240mm (9.4'') Width
169.5mm (6.6'') Depth (7.7mm (0.29") and it will weigh 469g
(1.03lb).
Camera: 8MP camera with f/2.4 aperture.
Will be able to shoot video at 1080p and support 120 fps slow motion recording.
Furthermore, the camera will support Augmented reality which will be great for
a learning background.
Front
Camera: The
FaceTime camera (as Apple calls it) will be 1.2MP f/2.4 aperture. 720p video
recording.
Features and models of the iPad
(2018)
The iPad
(2018) will have 3 colour options; Silver, Gold and Space Grey. It will have
two models, Wi-Fi and a Wi-Fi + Cellular model. The iPad (2018) will
support touch ID and it has a head phone jack (yeah!!). The base model
storage will be 32GB and the higher storage model will have 128GB.
Looking
at this new iPad, it seems quite appealing as it will bear a low-price tag of
$299 USD (for schools) and $329 USD retail. It offers features close to an iPad
pro by making the iPad (2018) compatible with the Apple Pencil (as usual Apple does
not include it in the box). The iPad is available for pre- order now. Once you’ve
placed your order you will receive your iPad in a weeks’ time.
