AirPods, a product that got some weird reactions when it first released in 2016, it looked like an electric tooth brush head, that came in a dental floss box. However, now when you look into it the mindset of people on the AirPods it has a drastic changed including mine. There's quite a few rumors going around that Apple is working on the new AirPods, which probably would be released in the 2nd quarter of 2018. lets dig deep on the speculations.

What we know so far about the AirPods 2

Wireless Charging: This one, we can confirm that is going to be there. Apple has already released a wireless charging compatible case for the current AirPods as their AirPower mat is supposed to be released somewhere in the 2nd quarter of 2018. So we can expect this feature to come right out of the box for the new AirPods.

Hey Siri: the current AirPods have the feature where you to tap on the AirPods to activate Siri, which is just fine, however this sometimes becomes quite inconvenient, specially if your doing your workout or its just too cold to take your hands out of your pocket. This may be simple but, will make the use of the AirPods much smoother.

Water Resistance: the first gen AirPods are not water resistant, even though it can handle a few splashes here and there. It is possible for the new AirPods to have water resistant rating. We can expect tighter seals for the AirPods and the charging case. The tighter seals may have an effect on sound quality specifically on noise cancellation.

Larger Battery: With the AirPods you can get about 5 hours of battery life, if you have a fully charged case you probably could charge your AirPods upto 4 - 5 times and use it roughly for about 24 hours. The AirPods 2 may come with a larger battery both on the Airpods as well as its charging case but currently we cannot confirm the battery capacity.

Fitness tracking: there was a rumor stating that apple has patented a new biometric chip for the upcoming AirPods, which will be able to track heart rate and blood pressure, however it has been confirmed that this rumor is indeed Fake so please don't believe this rumor. You can read more about this here.

We can expect the design of the new AirPods to stay the same, and we may get noise cancelling features. Sound quality in the current AirPods are good however an upgrade is always better. Furthermore we may get an upgrade for the W1 chip probable we shall call it the "W2" chip.

Ming-Chi Kuo also released a statement on the new AirPods" stating;

"We think the main difference of the upgraded AirPods, which won’t look much different from current AirPods, will be the wireless charging case and the adoption of an upgraded W1 chip. We believe that the charging case will adopt different processes for the external appearance and to meet thermal requirements from wireless charging, the hinge price will rise 60-80%".

If the AirPods 2 release later this year, the first generation AirPods may have price drops so hopefully many more will be able to try these unless Apple plans discontinues it (hopefully that will not happen).

With my experience I believe the Apple AirPods are one of the best sounding earphones for its size and features, I'm excited to see what the new AirPods brings to us. Hope you are too. That's our current update about the AirPods 2.
